I know I know I have been slacking putting up a picture of my Christmas tree, well I really did it because I knew once I had it up I would possibly have to deal with fits of jealousy from fellow bloggers. I have the most majestic Christmas tree, it will really give away how well I live. So without further ado her is my Christmas tree:
Okay now please try to control yourselves, it’s hard living a life of luxury and I tell you what being asked to entertain peers such as GW and Lady Laura is a tedious task you know. I mean really how many people do you know that have a Christmas tree that big and with the President and First Lady standing in front of it….not too many I am sure!
Well Okay so that’s not really my tree either, it was a fun little fantasy for a minute until I thought about how often I would want to shoot myself in the toe when decorating a tree that big. Although if I had a tree that big I am sure I would have many a helper to help me decorate right :). Well in the true spirit of Christmas here is a picture of my actual tree:
Yep that is just what it looks like. It’s still in the box as are the decorations. I just haven’t had it in me to take it out this year, no time, too much on my mind and a little girl that loves to break things has kept the tree in the box this year. You don’t need a tree to get into the spirit, I can do that from shopping alone. Give me some money to spend and we all get into the spirit with candy canes to eat, Christmas movies and hot chocolate.
While yes it’s fun to have a Christmas tree up it’s not a necessity and this year has taught me that. However things will return to normal next year when I feel the mean streak has left my daughter and the tree will be able to survive in safety.
Aside from decorating what are some things that get you into the holiday spirit?

don’t feel bad…i just put up my tree last night.
Oh, Toni! ROTFL!!! Thank you for the HUGE laugh this morning! I even had to share it with my hubby – great way to start off the morning with our coffee! LOL!
And you’re right – you don’t need to have a tree set up and decorated to get in the spirit, there are many people out there that leave their Christmas lights on their houses year ’round so that sort of ‘takes away’ from that whole idea. Or maybe they’re feeling like it’s Christmas every day… ๐
Besides, Christmas Spirit comes from within, not in material things like decorations and hoopla – just because you don’t put up a tree doesn’t mean you can’t be in the Christmas spirit! ๐ I can relate to the breakable ‘mean streak’ – last year was the first year I started putting ornaments on the lower branches of our tree…too tempting for our little one to ‘play’ with them and a chance of them getting broken or worse – injuring her! ๐
I bought a small table top tree so we could have a tree, but no damage (or limited damage…LOL)
I love to listen to Christmas music…always gets me in the spirit!
So no tree? I don’t know if I could handle not having a tree…maybe a table top one?
first yr in apt w just my kids aft sep from ex, i had no tree. i couldn’t be arsed to put it up. i was dealing with thyroid probs (before being diagnosed) and working. at one point i worked TWO 8 hour jobs. would work 8 then have exactly one hour to get to the next. it sucked. i wasn’t seeing my kids much so i quit one job.
i do believe my ex thought i was a bad mom for not having the tree up. but screw him lol
Don’t feel bad!
Last year we put up our tree…but we never got around to decorating it! LOL
