There are so many cases of identity theft in today’s society. It’s sad but true. Whether it’s someone hacking into an email and sending something to others as the owner or a much more harmful issue like a whole identity being stolen…it’s important to protect ourselves. It’s sad that there are people who will go to lengths that can damage another person. Which is why I personally am happy there is a company like LifeLock to help keep us safe.
Over the last week or so I have been giving LifeLock a try and am pleasantly surprised at how it is monitoring certain things for me. It claims that it will notify you if someone is using your identity (whether it’s your or someone else) and that’s just what it has done. On a recent trip to a store I wanted to see if LifeLock would do it’s job, so I applied for an in store card. Not even 5 minutes passed from when the application was submitted and I had a text telling me someone had used my social security number to apply for a card. It gave me the option of approving or alerting to make sure it was really me that applied for that card. I LOVED THAT!
LifeLock was making sure my identity stayed safe. I loved that once I set up my account I was pretty much done. After that I just wait for the texts and/or emails alerting me that my identity is being used. I am excited to venture further into the benefits of LifeLock and see just how well they help me protect and keep protected my identity. Staying safe is definitely a priority for me!

no. thanks goodness
Thankfully, no.
No, but someone did steal my husband’s debit card number. They then used it to make a couple purchases half way across the country. Luckily, we caught it right away and our bank was on top of it quickly. We were never able to find out who or how the number was stolen.
I had people use my credit card before, but not my name.

no and I hope it never happens
No, I’ve never had someone try to use my identity and I hope I never have to deal with that!
No, thankfully – but I have a friend who had her identity stolen 3 years ago and she’s still wading through that mess and trying to get things back to normal…and someone at my husband’s work had the social security number of their newborn stolen by a family member….so this poor little baby had all these utilities, etc. turned on it his name before he was even 3 months old!
i had someone (ex-husbands new GF) use old checks with my maiden name.
