My mom just had surgery for breast cancer, so I thought what better way to spend some time with her than to watch a movie together and have a viewing party for two. Being that, for the next few weeks, she is pretty confined to the house, it means lots and lots of movies. This week, April 29 to be exact, “Labor Day” hit shelves on Blu-ray and DVD.
With the movie, I was sent a fun kit for the perfect viewing party for two. Everything, minus a few ingredients, to make the perfect peach pie to enjoy while watching the movie. Having started the book, before the movie, I knew that peach pie played a very important part, so I was excited to enjoy some when I watched the movie.
I won’t give away any spoilers, but I will tell you this is a very touching movie. I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed Labor Day. Labor Day is all about family, helping others, and how life can sometimes bring something good, in a very unexpected way. At times it was heart breaking, at times I was cracking up, and in the end I was very impressed.
I will be completely honest, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it when it first started. As with any movie, that was a book, things can be interpreted a little different. In the past, I have been very critical of books to movies, and fully admit to going into this the same way. However, this one did not disappoint. Did it have everything from the book in the movie, no, but it had everything it needed to have.
As my mom and I sat and watched Labor Day together, while she is recovering from surgery, it was nice to just sit with one another and watch a beautiful story unfold on screen. Labor Day is available on blu-ray and DVD, you can head to a store near you or pick it up on Amazon.
Now, go make some peach pie and enjoy Labor Day with some of your family and/or friends!
