House Leaks, Spelling Bees, & A Sports Mom…Oh MY! #ThisIsMyLIfe

family photos

It’s been a lot of campaigns here on A Daily Dose of Toni lately, and I am very blessed to have had them, I have many more to come, but I feel like I haven’t been able to share the recent happenings in our lives lately.  Some good, some scary, some frustrating, so today I just wanted to share some updates with you all on the happenings in the Patton household.  The hubs and I will go on our first out of the country trip together this year!  I won a 4 day/3 night trip to the Domincan Republic! He didn’t believe me at first, it was so funny.  I am super stoked to get to go away with him!

Cheer Mom

As you know last year, was my daughters first year of cheer.  It was so much fun and she is such a little doll out there showing her spirit.  We were gearing up for sign-ups this year, when her coach from last year reached out saying the team she would be on, would need a coach.  Because I cheered a few years and loved it, and I am going to be at all the games, practices, and competitions anyways, I thought “Why not?”.   So, sure enough, I volunteered.  I am a little worried about my August-November months because I am sure to be busy as a bee.  No matter, my daughter will remember this always and that’s worth the busy-ness.  Oh, and she won the spelling contest in her class, so she is competing in the school spelling bee!

Aidan

The middle dude, has been working really hard this year to get better at reading comprehension and we are so proud of him for doing just that.  I love watching him when he meets another milestone.  He also mentioned wanting to play baseball, after the signups, so that is a goal for next year.  Soccer season is right around the corner for him, during the same time as my daughters cheer season.

Soccer

My oldest is finishing 8th grade…wait, what??!!!  He is heading to high school.  As you can see, above, he is a soccer player, has been playing since he was 3.  He is still going to try out for the soccer team when soccer season comes.  However, he has joined the weighltifting and football team!  So now I am a soccer, cheer and football mom.  I tell ya, this kid is definitely my sports kid…he’s dabbled in them all.  Oh, and he is going to ROTC, which means he has to do PE online…how did we never have online courses when I was growing up?

As for me, the blog front is going well, I got to go on my first cruise (which I’ll share all about next week) and in June am going to my first all-inclusive resort.  I am so excited about where my blog is headed.

Our house has part of the roof blow off and the kids play room had a horrible leak so it’s a mess down there.  All dry now, but no carpet, hole in roof & ceiling, just a mess.  We are going to begin repairs on it, but that was quite the fiasco…I remember the storm day, having a breakdown then just singing “Praise Him In The Storm” because no matter what life is throwing my way, I know God is right there with me getting me through it.

We just found out my mom has breast cancer again…have I mentioned CANCER SUCKS!  However, she beat it once and I have no doubt she will beat it again.  This time it’s a little trickier because of the size, but I have faith and know all is going to be fine.  We are believing that we are going to get a church building, in May!  It’s going up for auction and my mom has been praying for this building!  So, if you want to donate, please head here to find out how.

As you can see, it’s been a lot of ups and downs around these parts, but I take it all in stride and just trust God through the good and the bad.  In the end, everything is in His hand, so trusting Him is super easy 🙂

What are some of the current happenings in your life?

Wow, how awesome to have won that trip, I think I’d still be in shock if I won something like that. You have a beautiful family, very Blessed. Prayers going up for your Mommy and may God heal her quickly and be with you all during these trying times. The works of the devil trying to throw up off track but we know that won;t happen.

  2. 2

Oh… No…. I hate when our roof decides to leak. We put a new roof on just a couple of years ago and now, around the chimney, it is leaking. We are calling the roofer Monday.

  4. 4

Oh man, you have been busy, huh? I love the “business” side of my blog, but I always try to make it a point to keep my personal posts in there, too, because that is why I started after all 🙂

  5. 5

We’ve put a lot out into the universe and seem to be getting it back two fold! Instead of squandering the luck, we’re saving and being smart!

  10. 10

I can’t wait for my kids to be old enough to participate in organized sports. Your daughter is just too cute in her cheerleading outfit!

  11. 11

We just got back from Chicago and the C2E2 convention where we met Stan Lee! Our girls are still on cloud 9 about it!

I’m sending good thoughts up for you mom, and here’s to beating cancer again!!! You’re right, cancersucks.

Sorry about your roof, been there lived that in the last hurricane that hit us before we moved north. Luckily, those things can be fixed. 🙂

  15. 15

Life is full of ups and downs, but you are taking them in stride! Enjoy those precious family moments!

My life has been busy doing a lot of activities with my daughters.

  20. 20

You must be so excited that your daughter is starting her first year of cheer. My son plays basketball and we really enjoy going to his games and supporting him.

  21. 21

The current things in our life at the moment is my health issues I’ve been struggling with them for a while and found out I can’t have surgery because I have another diagonses so off I go and learn how to like soups and salads a lot more then I normally would on the plus I can see the weight from having my kid 7 years ago finally starting to come off.

  22. 22

What a beautiful family you have! And many prayers and good thoughts for your momma!

  23. 23

And I thought that my life was frantic. Cheer, soccer, nightly reading, cruises, what next? You really seem to handle it all very well. Having the roof of my home damaged would be enough for me. You must have good coping skills. Prayers going out for your mother.

  24. 24

Sounds like you have a lot going on right now! I hope you get your roof leak straightened out quickly and your mom’s treatment for the breast cancer goes well.

  25. 25

I’ve never won anything like that in my life! How fun, and congrats! Your little cheer leader is a doll!

  26. 26

Congrats on your trip prize!!! That would be amazing to win!!!

  27. 27

There’s a lot going on for you, for sure. I’m especially sorry to hear about your mom!

Sounds like you have a VERY busy household! Congrats on your win – I would love to win a nice trip like that!!

  29. 29

Congratulations on all of the wonderful things that are going on in your life. Very sorry to hear about your mother and your leaky (I guess it was a bit more than that) roof. I look forward to hearing more about your adventures as a cheer coach.

  30. 30

You are super busy! My boys are into sports, too and it makes our schedule crazy. Sounds like you have some fun things coming up. Saying a prayer for your mom.

  31. 31

Such sweet pictures. Your daughter is such a cute cheerleader! I’m so sorry about your mother. I hope she beats it this time too.

  32. 32

It sounds like you have some amazing things going on and I am so sorry to hear about your Mum, sending lots of well wishes. x

  33. 33

I am so sorry to hear about your mom, but it sounds like you’ve got a great attitude about it. And yes, cancer definitely sucks!

  34. 34

Lots of ups and downs for you. Good for you for stepping up to be a coach. And, I don’t think I could have the positive attitude you did about your roof (but now, I’m singing the song!)

  35. 35

Sounds like you’ve been really busy! I recently started a new job outside of home so I don’t have much time to do any extra things, When I get home I try to catch up on my blogging and get ready for the next day!

  36. 36

What a full and busy time! Congrats on the vacation! That sounds like fun. I am trying to get my kid ready for high school and me ready for my summer program at work.

  37. 37

That’s awesome that you won the trip! I’m sure you and your husband will have a blast. Sorry that your mom’s cancer came back. We’ve been dealing with my dad’s cancer on and off the past few years, so I know how difficult it is. Stay strong!

  38. 38

Wow you are going to be busy in the fall running from one field to another! It’s great that you’re involved with the kids though, those are memories that last forever.

  39. 39

I can’t wait to hear all about the travel! I’ll keep your Mom and your family in my thoughts that she beats the cancer again.

  40. 40

That’s life….wonderful moments and then there are the not so wonderful ones. It’s how we handle them is what matters

  41. 41

Oh my goodness, mama! You have a lot going on. I will be praying for your mom!

  42. 42

Wow! How awesome to get to go on your first out of country trip, and even better that you won it.

I am sorry to hear about the breast cancer returning to your mom. Saying a prayer for her to kick it in the rear once again!

  43. 43

Praise Him in the Storm is one of my favorite songs! It really shows how important it is to praise no matter what.

  44. 44

Congrats on becoming a cheer coach, I cannot wait to hear how you and your team do! Good job to your middle son, my oldest struggled with reading for years and now loves to read so he will get there with continued work. The high school thing was a huge step for me when my oldest went, I cried as hard as when I sent him to kindergarden. Glad you are getting your house back in order from the leak. I am so sorry to hear about your mom again battling Breast Cancer. I just ran my second race this year for the Susan G. Komen foundation because this is one that means a lot to me. I also met a little boy while out shopping that was so proud of his mom who is currently kicking cancer’s behind – he and his grandfather both shaved their heads for his mom. I will pray for your mom to beat it again.

  45. 45

Congrats on your trip! I’d love to travel to the Dominican Republic 🙂

  46. 46

Lots going on in your family! I am totally stuck on the trip to the Dominican! I love that place. So jealous!

  47. 47

You have a gorgeous family! Smart and in sports! 🙂

  48. 48

Toni, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. I’m praying for you guys. It sounds like she is such a fighter!

  49. 49

first of all, i will keep your mama in my prayers. cancer sucks.

sounds like lots of great things are happening for your family- even with the roof- it’s a bad thing, indeed, but the way i look at things, it could have been the whole roof. or someone could have been injured. so its a “good bad” thing.

  50. 50

Great pictures!! Sometimes we have bumps on the roads. Praise him in the Storm always seems fitting in life. P.S I can’t wait for you to share your upcoming traveling experiences! How fun!!

  51. 51

It sounds like you have a lot going on (like me–and most moms). Hope your mom pulls through. Cancer DOES suck.

  52. 52

How awesome. I love the spelling bee. I never won it, but I always wanted to. Congrats to your little one.

  53. 53

Congratulations on the blog success! I can only hope to get a trip out of this experience. 😉 Kudos to you for stepping up to be a cheer coach. I cheered when I was young, and I really loved it. I am praying for your mother and family. Have a great week.

  54. 54

Such awesome photographs here! I sometimes fall into having too many campaigns happening at once and I get too far away from writing from the heart! Thanks for a great post!

  55. 55

So sorry to hear about your roof! But yay about the blog and family going well. Life is a crazy ride, we all just have to hold on and enjoy it. 🙂

  56. 56

So busy! Wow that’s a lot, haha . Got tons happening now, similar to yours, just ups and downs and all overs but it’s going nicely 🙂

  57. 57

We haven’t put our daughter into much sports. We tried out tball and she pretty much hated it. I think she would probably like cheering or dance, something a little more girly. Maybe we will do that once we get moved this Summer.

  58. 58

Sounds great about your blog. My dad had cancer a few years back and it came back too. Cancer does truly suck!!

  59. 59

Well congrats on your upcoming trip! That’s an awesome win! You have a lot going on- whew– that trip will be perfect!

  60. 60

My son is heading to Kindergarten next year and one to preschool! Crazy!

  62. 62

That is so amazing! I don’t think I’ve ever won anything, especially a trip.
