It’s that time of year when the scares are out in full force at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 25. Celebrating the 25th year of the event, they pulled out all the stops. I had the chance to attend Halloween Horror Nights 25 as part of our “Facing Fears Together” event. Bloggers and their plus ones took on chills and thrills at Universal Orlando Resort. This year, Halloween Horror Nights doesn’t hold back. With nine bone-chilling houses, five terrifying scare zones, and two great shows, the event is packed full of horrors from start to finish.
The houses you will experience at Halloween Horror Nights 25, definitely upped the creep factor from last year. The nine houses this year are:
Freddy VS Jason
See two icons fight to the death. This intense house has plenty of Jason and Freddy moments for fans to see if they keep their eyes open. You will see familiar scenes from Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th, as they each have some of their “home” spaces to scare you. With film moments through the maze, this is truly epic for fans of the films. Find out who wins the battle as you make your way through this house.
Body Collectors
Off the charts in the disturbing factory, Body Collectors takes you through an asylum that is full of truly cringe-worthy moments. We see the “doctors” doing what they do best and collecting body. The scene that still is so fresh in my mind, it gives me the shivers, is watching the person get their spine ripped out while “blood” splatters you. The sound in that part still haunts me. With creatures galore this house truly tops my disturbing chart.
Insidious
Fans of the movies or those who have never seen it, alike, will love this maze. The Insidious house takes you into the Lambert home featured in the film as we step into a seance scene. The journey continues as we go into “The Further” realm where we face ghosts, demons, and not-so-friendly spirits like the red-faced demon and the woman in black who are doing what they can to get into our world. The feeler room will leave you feeling as if you have something touching you…who knows you might take a demon home. This house was truly creepy. Keep a watch out for those blue lanterns!
Run: Blood, Sweat, and Fears
You enter a “game show” that turns deadly. Fans of the Running Man movie will get a kick out of this concept and while overall, the scares weren’t as big in this house, there was a moment that caused me to stand in fear and scream. Our RIP tour guide laughed and said that my scream was awesome and rivaled the scream in Psycho.
Jack Presents: 25 Years of Monsters and Mayhem
Meet up with some of your favorite characters in this house. This house brings Halloween Horror Nights history to life. Jack, Halloween Horror Nights very own creation, takes you through a collection of scares from previous years. This maze is amazing. Intense and meant to immerse you in the history of HHN, it lacks nothing. Scenes include going through a sunken ship (yes you feel like you are leaning sideways), walking through a cabin of terror, and, of course, your monsters galore. Jack gives you a horror filled house.
The Purge
Get aboard the “Terror Tram” as you attempt to survive The Purge. Crime is declared legal for 12 hours, in this house based on the movies. The Purge was a scare zone last year and was upgraded to a house for HHN 25. You are at the mercy of the vigilantes looking to purge the world of the bad seeds (though an innocent is thrown into the mix as you would expect). Walking through this house you will be jumpy and looking over your shoulder. While not every scene is intense, the Prom Queen scene is sure to get to you as you see and feel the effects. Run and get away before you are purged!
An American Werewolf In London and The Walking Dead: The Living and The Dead
Once again Universal Delivers with a zombie filled house. The Walking Dead does not disappoint. Fans of the show will get to immerse themselves in season 5 as they go through this maze! “The Walking Dead” maze will feature hordes of walkers and eerily recreate the scenes, settings and terror that guests have seen on their TV screens. Taking it to a new level, Universal Orlando puts guests in the iconic flooded food bank scene where they’ll be surrounded by hundreds of gallons of water as flesh-hungry walkers attack. Just be careful of the revolving door!
Fans of An American Werewolf In London will be thrilled with this house. This maze goes back to HHN’s original, same concept and layout but WAY more wolf! This classic horror film is brought to life through this house. The werewolf puppets, are so amazing, and life like you may fear for your very own life. Bloody and gory this is a well-done house that pays tribute to an iconic film
Asylum in Wonderland 3D
I wish I had video cameras in my eyeballs so that you could see this house. This maze was truly epic, on a trippy level. Let me start with, if you get motion sickness, there is one scene at the beginning that may get to you. I felt like I was falling all over the place trying to walk through it. Asylum in Wonderland is a 3D maze and was my favorite from the visual standpoint. We go inside the insane mind of Alice. See the Mad Hatter in a whole new way. The tale is dark and twisted, but it is a great addition to Halloween Horror Nights 25. We see favorite characters from Alice In Wonderland but in a whole new, not-so-cuddly way. The bright colors and flashing lights aren’t your average, dark Halloween feel, yet Asylum in Wonderland does a terrific job of bringing the scare to chang a fairytale into a horror story.
This years scare zones:
PSYCHOSCAREAPY – UNLEASHED: The criminally insane inmates of Shadybrook Asylum have escaped and stumbled upon a Halloween Block party in the streets of New York. They quickly decide they’d kill for some costumes of their own.
ICONS – HHN: The eeriest icons and most cadaverous characters of the last 25 years of Halloween Horror Nights® have returned. The Caretaker, The Storyteller, The Director, The Usher and more are back to relive every monstrous memory.
SCARY TALES – SCREAMPUNK: Classic fairytale characters get a sinister Scary Tale twist immersed in the wicked world of steam punk.
EVIL’S ROOTS: Your darkest fears will take root amidst the perilous paths of Central Park as you face evil fairies, humanoid bats, scarecrows and more horrors.
ALL NITE DIE-IN – DOUBLE FEATURE: The Carey Drive-In movie theater has been closed for decades after grisly murders during a double feature. It’s lights, camera, carnage as the theater nicknamed “Die-In” by the locals lives up to its name.
I have even more to share about my time at Halloween Horror Nights 25 and will be doing another post later today on why you must take tours for your night at the event. Plus, see what it’s like when the lights are on in the house as I share all about the Unmasking The Horror Tour!

I highly suggest taking yourself and some friends and taking on Halloween Horror Nights 25 at Universal Orlando. It truly is the best event so far. Find out more about HHN 25, by visiting the website!

Universal Studios sure has great displays and sites at their 25 Horror Nights. I get queasy at Haunted Houses now, but I used to go to them all the time. These Haunted Houses look like so much fun though!
