Living here on the Florida Gulf Coast this is a lot of beach to cover but that doesn’t mean I don’t want to change it up sometimes. Change it up is just what we did during Brandcation by heading over to Adventures Unlimited for a day of ziplining and floating. Adrenaline filled fun followed by a relaxing float, I was game….until I saw the first zip. My face says it all:
Those were my precise thoughts too. My fear took over during the practice run and I almost had a panic attack when we got to the first climb. A.TEENY.BALCONY that we were all supposed to fit on was not sitting well with me. Thanks to my zipper in crime, Alison, who encouraged my fears wonderfully I went up very begrudgingly. Then, it was my turn and I went and I LOVED it.
*On a completely pointless side note, don’t you like how my Vibram shoes matched my team shirt* Back to the story. Did I get over my fear completely after this first zip, no but after a few zips I really started to laugh and have a good time. Not to mention our guides were A to the MAZING. The husband/wife duo made our treck so much fun and had so much patience with chicken little here. I loved the little lessons we learned about the area during our journey, it was such a great experience.
After we finished the treck we were on we had the option of heading over to take on the 900 ft zip that sends you flying through the air at a fun 35ish MPH. Check this bad girl out:
Did I conquer the giantess??? Why yes I did, along with Candace and Megan from my group. I loved every second of the 900 feet too. I was so proud I conquered my fear with the zipping portion of the day. After we wrapped up the last zip we headed back up to the meeting area for a lunch of sandwiches, chips, soda and a chocolate chip cookie. I was full and ready to float.
Imagine thirty something women entering a freezing cold river, it was quite comical. There were lots of squeals and splashes but we finally got settled in our tube for our float down the river. I have to say it was so relaxing and a perfect ending to the day for me. Adventures Unlimited made our day so wonderful and I am so grateful for all they did. A great, big, HUGE thank you to their team for hosting us and helping us get our adventure on.
If you are in the local area and are looking for something outside of the beach look into Adventures Unlimited. Please note there are weight requirements for zipping but the tubing is fun for the whole family (please make sure children are secured with life jackets for safety of course). This is definitely an activity A Daily Dose recommends for the Coastal Life vacation.

Sounds like fun. One of these days I might have to go try that zipline. The rivers are great. We spend many hours enjoying those cool refreshing rivers.
Omg, I’m so afraid of heights, but how THRILLING!!
That looks like so much fun!
Oh my goodness I can’t handle heights but that does look fun 🙂
I couldn’t make it up those stairs!
There’s no way I could make it up those stairs either. NO WAY!
Now that I have went zip lining, that looks like FUN!
You Candace and Megan were so brave! If I could go back again I would try the practice run again, but I don’t think I could do the 900ft.
